HJ Heavy Industries has received an order for an 18,000m3 LNG bunkering ship from H Line Shipping for KRW127.1 billion ($87.6 million).
“As the second-term Trump administration in the United States announced plans to expand oil and natural gas drilling and resume LNG exports, it is expected that the related markets such as crude oil carriers, LNG carriers, and LNG bunkering vessels will also be revitalised,” said HJ in a statement.
“It is expected to benefit the domestic shipbuilding industry with competitiveness.”
The bunkering vessel will be 144 metres long, 25.2 metres in beam, and 12.8 metres deep, and will supply up to 18,000m3 of LNG per full load to ships that use LNG as fuel.
It will be equipped with two independent LNG tanks and a dual-fuel propulsion system that can use LNG or diesel oil.
“As the global demand and supply of LNG increases, the LNG bunkering vessel market will continue to grow,” said HJ Heavy Industries CEO Yoo Sang-cheol.
“We will focus on securing super-gap competitiveness in the market by accumulating eco-friendly and high-value-added vessel construction technology worthy of the reputation of the shipbuilding family.”
